Nigeria elections

Dutse - The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) said on Thursday it had deployed 2 000 personnel for the gubernatorial, state and national assemblies elections in Jigawa.

The state NSCDC's Commandant, Muhammad Gidado, announced to media personnel in Dutse.

Gidado said the measure was to provide maximum security during the elections across the 27 local government areas of the state.

He said the primary responsibility of the corps was to provide security to all, including the voters, electoral officials and materials.

According to him, the corps has taken proactive measures to ensure peaceful conduct of the elections in the state.

Gidado urged the personnel to exercise high sense of professionalism in their conduct during the elections.

He, however, urged them to be neutral and impartial while discharging  their constitutional duties, saying that officers must be firm, fair and approachable to all participants.

Gidado, therefore, urged members of the public to cooperate with all security agencies for the smooth conduct of the elections.
