INEC declares Ajimobi winner in Oyo

Ibadan - The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared APC’s Abiola Ajimobi the winner of the governorship election in Oyo state.

According to the results by the returning officer Professor Ayobami Salami, Ajimobi polled 327 320 votes to emerge winner.

His close rival was former governor Senator Rasheed Ladoja of Accord party who polled 254 520 votes, and was followed by Labour Party’s Adebayo Alao-Akala who is also a former governor, got 187 111 votes.

PDP’s Senator Teslim Folarin polled a distant 79,019 votes, while the SDP candidate, Seyi Makinde got 54,740 votes.

Ajimobi who is the incumbent, will now be the first governor to serve a second term in Oyo state since 1999.
