Abuja - The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) has implemented manual accreditation in many polling units where Smart Card Readers (SCRs) failed to function effectively yesterday, Vanguard reports.
Chris Eyimoga, INEC National Commissioner in charge of the Information and Voter Education Committee, said yesterday that the decision to amend the 2015 elections guidelines at such short notice was due to the large scale of the problem.

Eyimoga assured citizens that the situation would be investigated thoroughly and promised that despite the glitches INEC would still deliver a free and fair election.
In addition, Eyimoga revealed that the problem of late delivery of materials to certain polling stations was due to problems between the Commission and members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
