INEC rules out elections in parts of Adamawa

Yola - The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has ruled out conducting the forthcoming elections in Madagali and Michika areas of Adamawa State, reports Premium Times.

The commission said it would not deploy its staff to these areas during the elections.

Rifkatu Duku, INEC’s spokesperson in Adamawa state, said the commission has not gotten clearance from security operatives to hold elections in the areas.

He stated that the commission would not risk the lives of its staff.

He added that residents of the affected communities are also reluctant to return or vote in the communities despite successes recorded by the Nigerian military.

Nigerian Military recently recaptured the two towns from Boko Haram.
