Igbos welcome conclusion of elections

Lagos - The Igbo Delegates Assembly (IDA) commended President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, and President Goodluck Jonathan following the conclusion of the election process.

The organisation congratulated Buhari for his victory and praised Jonathan for conceding defeat.

"We appreciate your resilience, doggedness and determination. Your success is an inspiration to the upcoming leaders. We pray the Almighty God will avail you strong health, sound mind, wisdom and such other facilities to move Nigeria and Nigerians to the next level," the organisation said on Buhari.

"We most respectfully praise President Jonathan and proudly identify with him for his humility, prudence, love for Nigeria and Nigerians and for initiating the most credible, free, fair and transparent electioneering process in Nigeria and Africa at large."

IDA commended the security agencies in ensuring a largely peaceful pole.

"We appreciate and commend you. Nigerian people we admire and commend you for your peaceful conduct before, during and after the elections," the organisation said in Abuja.
