Kano - The secretary of the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim has labelled President Goodluck Jonathan as being a statesman, and not a politician, Naij reported.

Speaking at a panel discussion organised by GEJWinsIt, a pro-Jonathan group in Abuja, Anyim said: "He is a leader who is building strong, democratic, national institutions that guarantee the future of Nigeria. By the time he finishes in the next four years, Nigeria will be in a gear that can no longer be reversed."

He further stated that Jonathan was not fighting for the next elections, but instead for the next generation of Nigerians.

Anyim also added that Jonathan had created a conducive atmosphere for political parties to thrive. However contrary claims have been made against Jonathan claiming that the president hates Northerners and that he didn't care about the Chibok kidnappings.

The APC has also made claims that the Jonathan administration has been funding ethnic militias to instigate trouble before, during and after the elections.
