Abuja - President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to all registered Nigerian voters before the February general elections, reports Punch.
President Jonathan gave the directive on Wednesday after swearing in INEC national commissioner representing Oyo State, Prof. Akinola Salau, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.Also read: INEC commences distribution of permanent voter cards
He noted that the commission cannot be seen to have conducted a credible election where some people were disenfranchised.
He said he was worried that some state governors are complaining that theyare yet to get their PVCs, noting that if the governors could be complaining, then many Nigerians are yet to get their cards.
