London - Barely two days to the Presidential and National Assembly elections, supporters of President Goodluck Jonathan in the UK have intensify their campaign for his re-election.

In London various support groups took their campaign to Nigerian communities, restaurants and places of worship.

Though most of the campaigners did not intend to travel to Nigeria to vote, NAN gathered that they were only drumming support for Jonathan through Diaspora influence.

However, a large number of supporters from the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN), The Concerned Nigerian Group, among others have since returned home to cast their votes.

Speaking on the development, Mrs Tee Zuma the UK Coordinator of the House 2 House Jonathan Support Group said the last minute campaign was to encourage the Diaspora to participate indirectly in the process.

"The Diaspora contributes immensely to the nation's GDP through its annual remittances"

“Though majority cannot go home to perform their civic duty, they can participate indirectly by encouraging their families and associates to vote. By so doing, their voices will be heard" Zuma said.

She said the House 2 House support initiative was advocating continuity in governance given Jonathan's achievements in key sectors of the economy.

According to her, the present administration has remarkable achievements in youth empowerment, wealth creation and education, especially in the northern states where the Almajeri education has been modernised.

"If you look at rail transportation you will discover that he has revamped the sector. President Jonathan has done a lot on roads, power and healthcare.

"He is gender-sensitive and is the first to have so many women in governance. For us to sustain all these achievements, the key is continuity," she said.

In the same vein, Mr Tope Onifade, an executive member of the House 2 House Group UK chapter said that "there no challenge for Jonathan because his achievements are visible.

"Though many people in the Diaspora do not travel to Nigeria often, they see and hear the success stories of Jonathan's transformation agenda.

"We are in the era of social media and that has made information more accessible," he said.

House 2 House Group founded by Hon. Aminu Yakudima, has representation in all the state's of the federation as well as Europe and U.S.
