Kaduna State pledges independence of LGA's

2015-05-08 19:36

Lagos - Kaduna State Governor-elect, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, said his administration would not interfere in the running of the 23 local government areas in the state.

His spokesperson, Samuel Aruwan, said El-Rufai gave the pledge when a forum of All Progressives Congress (APC) local government chairmen in the state paid him a congratulatory visit.

“We must do what our people want and what will benefit them and we must be firm in bringing positive change and coherent development in Kaduna state.

We will not touch a kobo or naira of local government councils in the state. The local government areas must be allowed to deliver development and real change,” he is quoted as saying.

“They must go and work; development is practical and not invisible. We will not tolerate waste and mismanagement of public resources. We will also not tolerate incompetence from officials charged with promoting the well-being of our state,” he said.

APC’s EL-Rufai defeated Muhktar Yero, the incumbent of the People’s Democratic Party.

Alhaji Naibi Ibrahim Sambo, who led the delegation of APC chairmen, said the delegation was in Kaduna to congratulate the governor-elect and pray for his success as governor.

Sambo explained that the people of Kaduna state voted for El-Rufai because they were convinced he will take the state to greater heights.

He pledged the support of the forum towards restoring the state to its former glory.
