Lagos - United States Secretary of State John Kerry on Sunday met with President Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari, in Lagos, reports Premium Times.
He met with the two leading candidates in the February 14 presidential election separately at State House, Marina.
Though the meetings were held behind closed- doors, Kerry at a news conference shortly after the meetings, said that the international community and the U.S. government were keenly interested in the conduct of the February elections.Also read: 2015 election: U.S. promises assistance to INEC
He emphasized the importance of having a non-violent, and transparent election.
He stated that any Nigerian who promotes any form of violence during the elections remains ineligible for U.S. visa.
