Lagos governor dismisses PDP position on minimum wage

2015-02-05 09:05

Abuja - The Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola denied the allegation by the governorship candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Jimi Agbaje, that his administration had not paid civil servants the National Minimum Wage.

Addressing the large turnout of party chieftains and supporters in Surulere, Fashola described the allegation as a display of ignorance saying his administration was the first to implement the wage policy among the 36 states of the Federation even before it became law.

He said the PDP candidates had continued to display bold ignorance, inexperience and lack of knowledge of what is really happening to the people he seeks to govern in all facets of life.

He thanked all the community and party leaders in the area and urged them to vote for his All Progressives Congress (APC) party and candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode, in the gubernatorial election next week.

Ambode promised that if elected as Governor of the state, he would continue in the footsteps of the incumbent.

He said his priority would be to create jobs for youths.

Fashola also promised to engage the youths in all the programmes he planned to carry out in the state adding that his administration would enhance the tourism potential of Surulere Local Government to connect it to the rest of the world.
