Abuja - Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, has encouraged people in the state to cast their votes wisely during the upcoming general elections.

He said their choices must be based on whether promises made to them in the last election four years ago were fulfilled.

He made the call during handing over of an 18 Classroom Block at Ayedere Ajibola Senior High School in Ketu.

“That is democracy. It is an exchange of promises. It is a social contract based on trust. You believe that a candidate will keep his promise and on that basis you vote for him," Fashola said.

"If the elected choice comes back again to ask for a renewal of mandate after the first tenure, he must do so based on the fulfillment of his promises. Only a new candidate can run on promises, an incumbent must run on his record,” Fashola added.

He urged those who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) to do so this week as mandated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The governor warned against exchanging the card for monetary inducement.
