Low turnout at Fashola's polling unit

Lagos - There are low turn out at Poling Unit 002 Ward 3 in Surulere, where Lagos state governor Babatunde Fashola is expected to cast his vote.

Unlike it was during the presidential election on March 28, where a large number of people turned out during accreditation, the governorship election has experienced a low turn out.

As at 10am on Saturday, Governor Fashola has not come out for accreditation.

Other poling units visited by News24 Nigeria in Lagos also recorded a low turn out, as INEC officials await voters.

People seem to be less interested in the Lagos governorship poll, a reason that could be attributed to a comment made by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akinolu concerning non indigenes.

The ruler had reportedly threatened that non indigenes in the state who vote against his candidate (APC's Akinwumi Ambode), will die in the lagoon.
