Gombe - The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Gombe State, has commended women in the state for their active participation in the 2015 general elections.
The state Director of the agency, Alhaji Mato Yakubu, gave the commendation on Tuesday in Gombe in an interview.
He said that the large turnout of women in this year’s elections was very impressive compared to previous elections in the country.
He attributed the impressive participation of women in the polls to the various empowerment programmes initiated by the wife of the governor and enlightenment programmes carried out by the agency.
"Wherever you go women talk of the loans and skills acquisition programmes they got from the governor’s wife," he said.

Yakubu attributed few cases of invalid votes recorded in the state during the general elections to voters’ education programmes embarked upon by the agency before the elections.
"The turnout of voters for the elections was impressive; voters were sensitised and mobilized," he said.
The director commended the APC gubernatorial candidate in the state for accepting defeat and urged others who were defeated to follow suit.
He advised party supporters to celebrate in moderation and urged them not to create problems that would lead to crisis in the state.
