Minna - Residents of Minna, Niger capital, on Thursday called for extension of the deadline for distribution of Permanent Voter’s Card (PVCs) to enable more registered voters collect their cards.

A check at the collection centres in Minna indicated a massive turnout of voters scrambling to get their PVCs.

Some of the residents, complained of lack of organisation in the process of distributing the cards.

At the collection centre in Maikunkele, Malama Binta Yusuf, said that she had given up hope of getting her card after several failed attempts.

Another voter, Mr Ibrahim Salihu, said the elections should be postponed until he gets his card, adding that INEC had four years to prepare for the elections.

"As far as I am concerned INEC is not ready, despite the fact they had four years to prepare.

"There is rowdiness as you can see, which should not be so," he added.

Niger government had declared a two-day holiday for the collection of PVC by residents.
