Nigeria military critics are reckless: Jonathan

Abuja - President Goodluck Jonathan has described critics of the Nigerian military as reckless, Sun News reports.

Jonathan has insisted that that efforts from the military should be appreciated by all citizens and be completely seperated from politics in the country.

Speaking upon receipt of a N1 million cheque from Dotun Oyetunde in support of the nation's armed forces, Jonathan said that nations who the country respects with regards to democracy do not criticize their military in such a manner.

The Statesman acknowledged support received from Nigerians thus far, making special mention of North-East youth groups who had taken to the streets in support of the armed forces.

The President called on other citizens to follow in the footsteps of those in support of the military by donating both in cash and kind to the troops.

He said assistance could be provided through the Chief of Defence Staff, the National Security Adviser or the Minister of Defence.
