Abeokuta - Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has denied snubbing President Goodluck Jonathan and other past leaders during the 90th birthday celebration of former President Shehu Shagari, reports Premium Times.
Obasanjo and the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress(APC), Muhammadu Buhari were the only two former past leaders that were absent during cutting of Shagari's birthday cake.
While Buhari was in London, Obasanjo arrived Shagari's residence in Sokoto hours after the departure of other past leaders and President Goodluck Jonathan.
There were speculations that he deliberated arrived late to avoid a meeting with Jonathan.
Obasanjo has, however, blamed a traffic gridlock in Lagos for the delay.
He said he ran into a traffic that made him get to Lagos airport very late.
He noted that he had no cause to backtrack on what they all agreed to do together in Shagari’s honour.
