Obasanjo dumps PDP candidate, declares support for Amosun

Abeokuta - Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Friday thrown his weight behind Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State for a second term in office, reports NewsDay.

Obasanjo told Igbo leaders from Lagos and Ogun states who visited him at his private residence in Abeokuta that though he does not belong to the All Progressives Congress (APC), he could not but admit that the governor’s performance in the last four years has been outstanding.

He noted that in spite of being in a different political party with the governor, his choice of Amosun was based on merit and not that of any political party.

He sought the support of the South-east and  other non-indigenes residents in Ogun State for Amosun in the February 28 governorship election.
