Omirin warned against plot to impeach Ekiti governor

2015-04-24 12:18

Lagos - The Ekiti State House of Assembly Speaker, Dele Olugbemi, has pledged his allegiance to Governor Ayodele Fayose.

The pledge comes amid plans by some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to impeach the governor.

Impeached former Speaker, Dr Adewale Omirin, is the brains behind the plot to indict Fayose.

Olugbemi advised Ojudu and colleagues to stop their "ill-fated impeachment or political coup" against Fayose threatening to "open the Paradox box without minding whose ox is gored."

"Rt. Hon. Olugbemi said Omirin, Ojudu and others acting by all means possible to impeach Governor Ayodele Fayose amount to a fraud, unpatriotic, selfish, wicked and unholy act which is strange to any Ekiti man," read a statement from Olugbeni's office.

"The speaker wondered why those who could not win through ballot box free and fair election now result to win via impeachment move. He advised Omirin to tread softly on his move to be acting Governor at all cost and should remember that the mandate he is enjoying was given to him by Ekiti people and not Osun or Lagos people."

According to the statement, he warned Omirin to put an end to the unholy and unconstitutional online impeachment on the person of Fayose.

"The speaker promised his absolute loyalty and commitment to the success of Governor Ayodele Fayose's administration."
