Lagos - The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) alleged moves by the All Progressives Congress to manipulate Ogoni leaders to petition to the State Election Tribunal to dismiss the validity of Rivers South/East Senatorial poll.

The losing APC candidate, Senator Magnus Abe, is said to be behind the plot to offer some pastors and chiefs of Ogoni “huge sums of money” as an inducement.

The leaders are said to have been paid N200 000 each.

Rivers State PDP Chairman, Felix Obuah, warned against such alleged moves saying they were designed to plunge the state into unnecessary chaos.

“It had never been lost on us that Senator Magnus Abe would resort to such fraudulent act. That has been his stock in trade, but good a thing, this, as usual has been exposed even before he finished sharing the dirty loot,”
Obuah said.

He warned the church and traditional leaders against receiving the inducement claiming the elections were hailed by both local and foreign observers as free, fair and credible.

“Beware that the offence of perjury still remains a serious crime in the country.”

APC has rejected poll outcomes in the Rivers State citing violence and vote rigging.
