Uyo - Ephraim Inyang, People's Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain in Akwa Ibom, has condemned calls by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the cancellation of the Governorship election results in the state.
Inyang, who is also the Chairman, Board of Trustees of Transformation Initiative for the Empowerment of Ibom People, said this in an interview with newsmen in Uyo on Wednesday.
He said that APC’s call was an attempt to deceive the outside world to think that the elections in the state were not free and fair.
“Look at President Goodluck Jonathan, he called the President-elect Muhammadu Buhari, to congratulate him even before the final results were announced.
“But if you look at all the states that APC has lost, it has been their strategy to call for cancellation of results.
“In Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Delta they are calling for the cancellation of the results because they lost.
“The PDP candidate in Lagos State conceded defeat and allowed peace to reign in the state.
“They should also emulate our dear President and other PDP candidates in places where they lost and allow peace to reign in Akwa Ibom.
“Look at the millions of people that marched through the streets of Uyo to celebrate the PDP’s victory, can you compare that with a few touts that went about burning tyres around INEC office.

“They should allow the winner of the governorship poll, Udom Emmanuel, to settle down and plan how to run the next government in Akwa Ibom for the good of our people,” he said.
On insinuations that outgoing Governor Godswill Akpabio would influence the administration of the governor-elect Emmanuel, Inyang described it as rumours peddled by mischief makers to cause disaffection.
He said that the governor-elect would ensure that all projects which could not be completed by the present government, occasioned by dwindling revenue, are completed.
“These are projects you cannot abandon because they remain crucial to the social and economic transformation of the state.
“So is it the Specialist Hospital, Uyo-Ikot Ekpene road project, the Ikot Ekpene Shareton, the Tropicana that you will abandon?.
“These are key projects that no sensible administration should abandon for whatever reason and for Udom Emmanuel, these projects are also key for the continuation of the uncommon transformation in the state,” he said.
The APC governorship candidate in the state, Umana Umana, had on April 11 called for the cancellation of polls in the state alleging massive rigging by the PDP.
