PDP governors kick against use of card readers

Lagos - State governors under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party have kicked against the use of card readers for the forthcoming general elections, reports  Vanguard.

The governors said they are opposed to the use of the machine because it has proved to be ineffective and a burden to the accreditation process.

The PDP governors, who are currently meeting in Lagos, vowed to scuttle any attempt by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to use the devise in the March 28 and April 11 elections.

Governors present at the meeting which is holding at the Eko Hotel and Suites are Governors Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom), Jonah Jang (Plateau), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Ayo Fayose (Ekiti) and Olusegun Mimiko (Ondo)

Also present are Mukthar Yero (Kaduna), Ibrahim Shema (Katsina) Liyel Imoke (Cross River) and the party’s governorship candidate in Lagos State, Jimmy Agbaje.

The meeting of the PDP governors ends on Tuesday.
