Abuja - The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 20 members of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) following last Thursday's fight between the National Union of Road Transport Workers and PDP youths in Oshodi.

The campaign team supporting PDP governorship candidate Jimi Agbaje, however, has come out as saying that officials are carrying out the will of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by arresting the youths, PUNCH reports.

In addition, officials at the Mosafejo Police Station have also been accused of moving house to house to effect the illegal arrests.

The team's Director of Media and Publicity Remi Adefulu has stated that tactics displayed by the APC would not deter Agbaje's resolve in winning the the upcoming elections.

Police PR Officer Kenneth Nwosu. however, has dismissed claims that officials have gone after PDP youths, saying that it is the duty of the police to protect citizens and ensure their safety.

Jimi Agabaje has been quoted as saying that although he is a believer in peace, he is disappointed in the actions of the police in this matter.

Agbaje has accused APC agents of attempting to destroy his billboard in Ikorodu and has called for the immediate release of the detained youths on the grounds of their arrest being "unconstitutional".
