PDP only party for national progress, says former party chair

2015-01-06 22:50

Anambr - Mr Tony Nwoye, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman in Anambra, has said that PDP remains the only way forward for national transformation and progress.

Nwoye spoke in Mmiata Anam in Anambra West Local Government Area, near Onitsha, Anambra, during a grassroots political rally, organised by Oduah Campaign Organisation.

The rally, which was tagged: "100 Per Cent Vote for PDP’’, was part of activities to sensitise Anambra West people to vote en mass for the PDP in the forthcoming general elections.

Nwoye said that the achievements of the Transformation Agenda of the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan had already made PDP a household choice among Nigerians.

"PDP is the only way for national transformation and progress since its people-oriented programmes touch even people at the grassroots like our people here in Orum-Etiti.

"This laudable reach and touch has made PDP, which is the largest party in Africa, the only viable and household choice among Nigerians.

"Other bigwigs and political giants of other parties in the country have to switch allegiance and membership to the PDP.

"Even our own brother, former Gov. Peter Obi, who was formerly the foremost APGA chieftain and national leader, saw this unending progressiveness of the PDP.

"He had no other choice than to leave APGA with thousands of faithful to PDP.

"Likewise other progressive and well-meaning Nigerians have continued to join the movement train of the PDP all over the country for their political future,’’ he said.

NAN reports that Nwoye was also PDP’s governorship candidate in Anambra in 2013.

He said that Jonathan was instrumental to the success of Obi and by extension APGA-led government in Anambra.

"And this is on record that cannot be denied by any Anambrarian,’’ he said.

Nwoye, however, urged the people of Anambra West Local Government Area to make sure that none of their members voted for any other party other than the PDP in the elections.

"The umbrella with the PDP inscription is the logo, so do not let anyone confuse you with any other logo; continue thumb printing on all umbrella logos to the end,’’ he said.

On Anambra North Senatorial Zone election, Nwoye said that God had chosen Princess Stella Oduah to bring development to the zone; which had been neglected for a very long time.

"We needed more roads to open up this zone as well as major link roads tarred as it is found in other zones in this state.

"We also need more public schools, vocational training centres and empowerment for our farmers and fishermen and women.

"And there is no doubt that Oduah, our own "ada" (daughter), has got the right exposure, connections and self-will to bring us all these when elected as our senator come Feb. 14,’’ he added.

The rally, which attracted people from seven communities in the area, had more than 6,000 people in attendance.
