PDP senators back Saraki

2015-05-14 14:14

Abuja - Some prominent members of the incoming Senate under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are rooting for the emergence of former Kwara State Governor Bukola Saraki as the new Senate President, reports Punch.

The PDP senators have openly declared their support for Saraki to occupy the top post.

The PDP senators during a meeting with some of their All Progressives Congress (APC) counterparts agreed to queue behind Saraki during the election for the Senate Presidency.

Some of the PDP senators that attended the meeting, which was held on Tuesday night at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja , were Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDPGF), Godswill Akpabio, former governor of Ebonyi State, Dr Sam Egwu, Gov. Theodore Orji of Abia and Andy Uba.

The PDP senators-elect decided to back Saraki because it appeared that the APC national leaders are supporting another candidate, Ahmad Lawan.
