PDP sends condolences to Anambra fire victims

2015-06-03 10:02

Abuja - The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has conveyed its condolences to the Anambra State following the petrol tanker incident earlier this week.

Up to 70 people were said to have been killed after the explosion in the commercial capital of the state although official figures put the number of casualties at 46.

PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, said the opposition party was deeply grieved by the sad incident, which cut short the lives of dynamic and hardworking Nigerians who were contributing to the social and economic growth of the state and the nation at large.

“The PDP mourns. We are deeply pained. Our hearts and prayers go out to the bereaved and the wounded. Indeed, we share in their pains and pray God to give them and the entire state the fortitude to bear the loss,” Metuh said.

He said the party also commiserated with Governor Willy Obiano and the immediate families of the deceased while praying for speedy recovery for the wounded.

The people died after a trailer loaded with Premium Motor Spirit that was descending from the Army barracks side of Onitsha Enugu express way lost control and rammed into the Asaba Motor Park at Upper Iwekas and exploded.
