Damaturu - A People’s Democratic Party
(PDP) House of Assembly candidate in Yobe, Alhaji Zanna Danani, on Friday
dropped his election bid and defected to the APC.
It is reported that the defection
was coming less than 24 hours to the governorship and state assembly elections.
Zanna, who defected along with several other chieftains of
PDP to APC, told newsmen in Damaturu that the action was to enable them join
the mainstream of the political development of the country.

Alhaji Lawan-Gana Lantewa, who spoke on behalf of those who
defected, said "we are joining APC to ensure that our people, who suffered
insurgency, are adequately catered for under the APC administration".
He said they would work for the success of APC in the
governorship and state assembly elections.
Lantewa said they would provide block votes for the success
of APC to defeat PDP candidates in the election.
