Abuja - The Member representing Jos South and Jos East Constituency in the House of Representatives, Bitrus Kaze, has charged the 8th National Assembly to support President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari and to embrace democracy.

The Peoples Democratic Party lawmaker also encouraged Buhari to brace up to the task of "leading the nation out of the woods."

The 8th Assembly may have serious problem compared to what we had in the 4th Assembly in 1999 because they are going to work with a President who has never been subject to legislative powers," he said.

somebody that had ruled without control as a military Head of State, he ruled without being subjected to oversight. For a man of over 70 years all of a sudden to be subjected to questions from people he literary gave birth to, it is not going to an easy task."

Kaze pleaded with his colleagues saying they must "bend over backward" to assist Buhari, a military leader during the 1980s.

"But he too must gear up, brace up and ensure that he understands the working of legislature. The wheel of lawmaking by nature does not move very fast, Kaze said.

He therefore appealed to the 8th Assembly to show understanding with Buhari¹s background. Kaze said it was unfortunate that the 8th Assembly members were mostly new.

"Legislative work is not learnt in the classroom, it is a job you learn with your hands on the desk and you don't learn with experience overnight, it takes time; you need the training, the experience gathered by members over the years."

Kaze was speaking in Jos during an interaction with journalists.
