It was the first meeting between the two since Jonathan sacked the previous IGP, Suleiman Abba and replaced him with Arase.

Arase told State House correspondents that he was meeting Jonathan to brief him of the police's preparation for the states where the Independent National Electoral Commission will be holding supplementary elections.

He added that the police had deployed officials in the affected states.

He further added that those who were aiming to cause chaos through violence would be dealt with accordingly.
