Makurdi - The Benue Police Command has confirmed the shooting of campaign vehicles belonging to the Benue APC governorship candidate, Dr Samuel Ortom, by gunmen at Adikpo on Friday.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, ASP Austin Ezeani, confirmed the attack to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Makurdi.

Ezeani said the vehicles, a Ford and Toyota Hilux with another utility vehicle, received several shots.

He said all the vehicles were parked near the Adikpo Magistrate Court along the ACC School.

The PPRO appealed to members of the public with useful information on the culprits to volunteer it to security agencies.

Ezeani said no one was injured during the attack but that vehicles parked nearby were affected by the bullets.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ortom was in Adikpo, Kwande Local Government Area, to attend the burial of Dr Samson Sambe, a lecturer at the Benue State University.
