Kano - The police on Sunday stopped a one-million man march in support of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari in Kano, reports Daily Trust.

The police in a letter to the organisers advised them not to proceed with the event in their own interest.

The police noted that they were acting in accordance with a directive from above.

The event was organized by the Buhari Youth Organisation (BYO) and was scheduled to take-off from the Sani Abacha Indoor Stadium in the state.

Garba Umar, BYO North-west zonal coordinator, said they were ordered to hold the event within the confines of the stadium.

Kano is considered one of the largest voter base for Buhari. The state has the second highest number of registered voters of 4 751 818.
