Rivers campaign team rejects "fraudelent" election

2015-04-14 14:08

Lagos - The Greater Together Campaign Organisation, which campaigns for losing All Progressives Congress (APC) Rivers state governorship election candidate, has reiterated calls for the cancellation of the just-ended poll.

Ibim Semenitari, GTCO Director of Communications, said the organization rejected the poll that culminated in People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP’s) Nyesom Wike declared the winner.

“Because of the widespread violence, killings and intimidation of voters, elections could not hold in Rivers State. We cannot therefore accept the purported result which is an aggregate of fraud, deceit, violence and bloodshed,” Semenitari said.

He said the GTCO called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to take heed to the “voice of millions of Rivers people” and the numerous evidences provided by international observers and the media and cancel the poll.

“Rivers State and her people were maximally defrauded by a partial umpire being INEC, in collaboration with the Peoples Democratic Party and compromised security agents.”

Results INEC released suggested Peterside polled 124 896 votes to Wike’s 1 029 102 votes.
