Senate fails to screen Obanikoro

2015-03-05 12:08

Abuja - The Senate on Wednesday failed to screen former Minister of State for Defence Senator Musiliu Obanikoro over allegations that he participated in a meeting to rig the June 21, 2014 Ekiti State governorship election, reports Punch.

Senate President, David Mark had a hectic time trying to convince members of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC)  to shift ground to allow Obanikoro have an easy passage, in accordance to the tradition of the upper chamber.

The insistence of the Senate President that he would not preside over a chamber where the tradition that predated him would be destroyed led to a rowdy session which lasted for over one-and-a-half hour.

The Senate, however screened four ministers . They are Mrs Patricia Akwashiki from Nasarawa State, Prof Nicholas Akise Ada from Benue, Col. Augustine Akobundu from Abia State and Engr Fidelis Nwankwo from Ebonyi State.
