Abuja - Speaker of the Taraba House of Assembly, Mark Useni, has commended the success recorded in the state during the presidential and parliamentary election.

The speaker stated this in Bête village of Takum local government council.

"For those thinking that the just concluded presidential election and parliamentary election would lead to the disintegration of the country, shame has become theirs as the election was hitch free devoid of riggings and violence," he said.

He said the dreams of persons seeking for the disintegration of the country had been dashed.

“With the success recorded during the presidential election, it would go a long way to further unite Nigerians irrespective of geo-political zones, religious and ethnic backgrounds,” he said.

While the poll went peacefully, it would be recalled that due to the misplacement of election material and absence of score sheets, election in Takum local government area of the state was slated for Sunday.

Useni noted that the shift in the election date to Sunday was not the making of any person but that of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He stressed the need for INEC to put in place relevant machinery before the governorship and states House of Assemblies election.

He also commended the use of card readers.

“However, it was hastily put into use. If you want to bring an innovation, you should perfect it before you bring it into use,” Useni said.
