Abuja - The Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) has declared the governorship election in Taraba
The initial result put the ruling People's Democratic Party
(PDP) atv317 198 and the All Progressive Congress (APC) at 262386,
the Returning Officer for the state Professor Mohammed Kyari, ruled the
outcome inconclusive since the number of cancelled votes was more
than the number of the different votes margin between both parties.
While the difference of the vote cast between the two
parties is 54 812, the number of the cancelled votes which led to the
declaration of the election was inclusive is 127 125.
Since the number of the cancelled votes is more than the
difference between the two leading parties, then the election in Taraba
State is inconclusive, said Kyari.

With this development, governorship election in the affected
areas is expected to be conducted in the next 30 days.
The election would be conducted only in areas where votes
Such areas as observed include the entire 165 polling units
in Donga Local Government Council.
Other areas are the Chanchagi ward of Takum local government
area and some polling units in Wukari council.
Elections result were cancelled in these areas following
pockets of violence that erupted in the areas which include snatching
of election material, destruction of card readers and adoption of INEC
Observers and some party agents had frowned at the decision
of the returning officer to annul the entire elections of Donga
local government while only five polling units were said to have
