Tinubu moves against Saraki over Senate Presidency

2015-06-01 13:06

Abuja - With all efforts to convince Senator Bukola Saraki to step down from the Senate presidency race hitting the brick wall, one of the national leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has moved against Saraki, reports Thisday.

Tinubu has reached out to some former governors of the party to prevail on Saraki to step down for his candidate, Senator Ahmed Lawan.

Tinubu’s latest move follows the endorsement of Saraki by some APC senators from the South West.

Tinubu has already met former governors Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State and Ibrahim Wamakko of Sokoto State, whom he pleaded with to support Lawan and also speak to their senators to do same.

Both former governors are now elected senators under the party’s platform.

Tinubu was only able to get the backing of Kwankwaso as Wamakko was said to told him that his loyalty is with Saraki.
