Sokoto - Alhaji Umar Faruk, the gubernatorial candidate of the Unity Party of Nigeria ( UPN) in Sokoto State, has pledged to operate a responsible government that will meet the expectations of the people, if elected.
Faruk said on Thurday that his administration, if elected, would focus on education, health care services, agriculture and job creation.
He said that the skills acquisition centres would be set up in all the districts to train youth and women in various trades.
He said the scheme would create job opportunities for youths and women to enable them to become self reliant .
He also promised to provide modern farming inputs to farmers to boost food production for local consumption and export.

He said that a master plan on how to develop the agricultural sector had been worked out for implementation.
He said that his administration, if elected, will utilise the abundant arable land in the state to ensure massive food production of assorted food crops.
He called on the people of the state not to sell their Permanent Voter Cards and shun all kinds of violence for the peaceful conduct of the elections.
