Minna - Voting started in the morning on Sunday at five local government areas of Niger.
The process was extended due to the lack of election materials in places like Wushishi, Mashegu, Rafi, Gbako and Lapai.
However, personnel of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the required materials had been deployed to the affected areas and voting had commenced.

The media reports that in Lapai council, the seven affected polling units commenced voting at 8 a.m.
Sen. Zainab Kure (Niger South) and her husband, Alhaji Abdulkadir Kure, voted around 9 a.m. at their Gidan Badigi polling unit in Lapai.
