Awka - A group, Anambra Women of Substance Association from Anambra Central Senatorial district, has endorsed Chief Victor Umeh in the APGA chairman's bid for the Senate.

The ceremony, which took place at Amawbia near Awka on Monday, was attended by the wife of Anambra governor, Mrs Ebele Obiano.

The women said their decision to support Umeh’s cause followed their conviction that the APGA boss would give the zone effective representation in the Upper Legislative Chamber.

Addressing the women, Mrs Obiano lauded them for their resilience and love for the APGA-led administration in the state.

She said that the government had good programmes that would uplift the living standard of women and youths.

Obiano thanked the women for endorsing Umeh and urged them to vote for other APGA candidates in the elections.

The coordinator of Anambra Women of Substance Association, Mr Sampson Ume-ejidike, said that Umeh had done well for the people of the state and the Igbos in general.

In his speech, Umeh assured the women that their recognition and subsequent endorsement would never be in vain.

"I will represent the women effectively both at the national and state level if voted as a senator," Umeh said.
