Gusau - The Zamfara State Government on Thursday declared Friday, Feb. 6, as public holiday in the state to enable civil servants and others collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs).

Gov. Abdul'aziz Yari made the declaration in Gusau while addressing newsmen.

Yari said that the declaration was part of the state government’s effort at ensuring that the people in the state collect their PVCs.

"We want everyone in our state to get his or her PVC because that will allow them to exercise their fundamental human right," he said.

Yari called on those who had not collected their PVCs to come out en mass and use the opportunity to collect their cards.

According to him, this is the only way for people to vote for the candidate of their choice.
