In the 2011 presidential race, 19 opposition parties fielded candidates against PDP’s President Jonathan, including the Liberal Democratic Party of Nigeria.
Jonathan polled over 22 million votes to defeat Buhari who vied on the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and scored about 12 million, nearly the same figure he garnered four years earlier.
The defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN’s) Nuhu Ribadu got just over 2 million votes and Mr. Chris Nwaokobia of the Liberal Democratic Party of Nigeria scored the least votes of 8,472.

At the 12 April 2003 legislative elections the party won 2.8% of popular votes. The party was deregistered in 2012.
