AMAA honours Mandela with award category

Durban - An award category will be introduced at the  2014 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) to honour Nelson Mandela, according to Nigerian Entertainment Today(NET)

NET gathered that the award will be called the ‘Madiba Africa Vision Award’

Also two men who have contributed to the development of the film industry in Africa will be immortalized by having award categories named after them.

‘The Best Film in African Language’ award  will now be called the  ‘Sembene Ousmane Awards for Best Film in African Language’ while the ‘Best Short Film Award category’ will now be called ‘Efere Ozako Award for Best Short Film’.

Ousmane Sembène was a Senegalese film director, producer and writer. He was often called the  "Father of African film" he died in 2007. Efere Ozako was a popular entertainment lawyer, he died in 2013.
