Chidi Mokeme tackles northern elders over Chibok girls

14 August 2014, 12:59

Lagos - Nollywood actor Chidi Mokeme is defending President Goodluck Jonathan over comments by Northern leaders about the abducted Chibok girls.

The leaders demand that the president forfeit his candidature at the 2015 general election if he has not found the missing Chibok girls by October.

Chidi Mokeme went after the Northern elders on Twitter were he said “The effrontery of these so called Northern Elders though. So much for taking responsibility and condemning the touts and miscreants amongst them”

The Northern Elders Forum had said that Jonathan will not get the northern support for his presidential ambition in 2015 if he did not rescue the  girls who were abducted by the Boko Haram insurgents.

President Goodluck Jonathan has played down the threat by the Northern Elders Forum.

The position of the president was made known by his senior special assistant on public affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, who said that threats were not required from any group or persons for the president to perform his responsibilities.
