Lagos - Chimmamanda Adichie’s Americanah made the short list of the 2014 Bailey’s Women’s Prize for Fiction, formerly known as the Orange Prize, but lost out to eventual winner, Eimear McBride from the UK, reports Premium Times.
McBride's A Girl Is A Half Formed Thing, also beat American Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, Donna Tartt’s Goldfinch to clinch the $30,000 prize money.
McBride’s novel was published in 2013, by Norwich-based independent publisher, Gallery Beggar Press.
