Congratulatory messages trail Fiberesima's re-election

21 October 2014, 21:07

Abuja - Steve Eboh, a former Vice-President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), on Tuesday, applauded the re-election of Ibinabo Fiberesima as the group's president.

Fiberesima, an ex-Nigerian beauty queen and first female President of AGN, was re-elected on October 16, in Abuja.

Eboh, who is also a popular Nollywood actor and producer therefore said in Abuja that Fiberesima's achievements in the film industry gave her the victory.

According to Eboh, the Federal Government's approval of 200 million dollars Entertainment Industry Intervention Fund and the N3 billion grant for Project Nollywood scheme were part of Fiberesima achievements.

He said the funds which were to boost the Nigeria film industry aided the production of Biyi Bandele's Half of Yellow Sun and so many others.

Eboh, popularly called 'ajebo', said  that several filmmakers and producers had benefitted from the funds through trainings.

"Fiberesima's re-election is a wonderful thing; she did well in her first term and the people wanted her back. There are lots of improvements now in the industry like before, so, we are happy for her. I contested against her in 2012 for the mandate but the people gave it to her and I supported her.The industry is like a family and whoever gets to the apex position may not necessarily be the best. Its just that the person could be best among equals, so, whoever gets the top position gets the support, encouragement and prayers of others to succeed,'' Eboh said.

He noted that the existing peace in the industry and among AGN members was responsible for the achievement recorded in Nollywood.
