Lagos - Preparations for the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) have received a major boost following a partnership organisers have signed with a broadcaster.

COSON, the organiser of the event scheduled for November, confirmed a partnership with Smooth Promotions, owners of leading entertainment television channel, HipTV.

COSON Chairman, Tony Okoroji, welcomed the partnership.

He maintained his organisation’s commitment to the local creative industry.

“COSON was established to put value to the intellectual property rights of

Nigerian artistes and others who invest in the music industry so that father or mother will ever see a child doing music as a drop out,” he said.

Ayo Animashaun, Chief Executive Officer of Smooth Promotions, praised COSON.

“I am of the school of thought that we need to do the right thing to support the industry and that there is no reason to cut corners,” he said.
