Lagos - El-Anatsui, one of Africa’s most important contemporary artists will be put under a microspe as he turns 70.
The Centre of Contemporary Art in Lagos Lagos will do a presentation of El Anatsui’s work over the past four decades titiled "Playing with Chance" through video, slide images, drawings, sketches, photographs, writings, documents as well as his art.
The event takes place on March 14 and runs till April 6.
El Anatsui is a Ghanaian sculptor who spent most of his career in Nigeria.
Anatsui creates works based on traditional Ghanaian beliefs and other subjects, using wood and clay, and he also borrows art forms from Nigeria like uli and nsibidi alongside Ghanaian motifs.
