Abuja - The family of Romanus Amuta, popularly known as Nathy of the rested TV series, New Masquerade, on Monday in Abuja debunked the purported death of the actor.
The first son of the veteran actor, Dr Chukwuma Amuta, said that the death of his father, as reported in some section of the media was misleading.
He said Nathy was recuperating from the stroke he suffered in 2009.
"I'm the first son of Romanus Amuta, also known as Nathy. I am surprised to hear such a fallacious rumor. It is true that my dad had stroke some five years ago, that’s in 2009. Presently he is clinically stable and he is recovering well. That was why I was very surprised when I heard about such information being spread in the media. The report saying that he is dead obviously makes every other thing false. He’s very much alive." he said
"I am a medical doctor, and by the grace of God; I take care of my dad to the best of my ability; so, that is obviously false; he’s improving gradually; every day you see improvement. There is a physiotherapist that comes to the house and takes him on every day. So, he is improving gradually. He goes for checkup. He’s okay. Nathy is still alive. He’s doing well.” he added.
He said that Nathy had contributed to the growth of the movie industry in the country through his pioneering roles.
He urged members of the public to disregard the information saying that it was unfounded.
