Jill Scott misses the 2013 Lagos Jazz Series

26 November 2013, 13:09

Lagos - Grammy award-winning American singer Jill Scott will be absent from the Lagos Jazz Series, according to Nigerian Entertainment Today (NET).

The organisers of the event have blamed a conflict of schedule for her inability to headline the festival. Scott, who is presently on tour, will not be the only artist to be absent during the Jazz series as jazz guitarist Pat Metheny will also be unavailable for the event.

According to NET's sources the organizers blame Scott’s unavailability for the show on a disagreement on performance fees.

Marcus Miller has been made the show’s new headline act. He will be sharing the stage with a Brooklyn-based Afrobeat band Antibalas, South African groups Ndubuzo and Mi Casa, Ghana’s Efya, and Nigerian rappers Olamide, Phyno,MI and Phyno.

The Lagos Jazz Series 2013 runs for four days and starts on Thursday.
