OC Ukeje recognised as Africa's best

Lagos - Nollywood actor OC Ukeje has been acknowledged as the Best Actor in Africa by movie viewers across the world.

Ukeje won the prize for his role in the thriller 'Secret Room' while  Kehinde Bankole picked up the award for her role in Kunle Afolayan's 'October 1' at the just concluded Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards(AMVCA).

OC UKeje while speaking to News24 on Monday, said that he believed his performance in 2014 was nomination-worthy.

The star who won an AMVCA in 2013 for lead actor said that he was supprised at being nominated more than once in the 2015 edition.

“When my name was called as the winner, the first thing I said to myself was ‘This is very’ intresting’. It is one thing to be nominated for an award and its another thing to win it” he said.

He said that he hoped winning the award will make people take him more seriously, and know that he is an actor who puts only the best in his craft.

OC Ukeje added that the award will create recognition for him on the continent and arouse the curiosity of people who have never heard of him.

The actor who also sang at the AMVCA’s revealed that since he plans on unleashing his  R&B, acoustic soul persona to the world this year, and plans on taking advantage of his being a singer for any acting role that requires musical talent.

OC Ukeje walked away with the  prize of one million Naira (N1,000,000) apart from the trophy.

The awards show took place on March 7, 2015 at the Expo hall of Eko Hotel and Suites.
